Why haven’t my confessions brought blessings?
Why does what my mouth speaks not match what I’m expecting?
Could it be because my words are filled with constant fretting?
Saying what I can’t gain, how I can’t maintain,
And doubting even my own name.
Wishing I could change it, rearrange it,
Become someone admired—someone famous.
Yeah, that’s when I’ll see change.
Can’t you see it? My name shining, lit with flames.
Then my words will have power because my success will make me the one they admire,
The man—or wo-man—of the hour.
Or maybe, I’ll trade places.
I’ll become you.
You, who has more.
You, who endures.
You, who seems to achieve what I can only dream.
Confessions like these—words from a heart trapped by envy.
Green with longing, it steps in quietly,
Arresting my soul, gripping my best,
Whispering lies that someone else’s life should be my destiny."
Why not me?" it taunts."
Surely I’d be better at their task.
"And so envy eats away at my heart, Spiritually tearing it apart.
If only I could be you.
I’d mimic your every move, verse by verse,
Believing that only then would my life be more than a curse.
But these are words from a heart filled with hurt—
The voice of someone who hasn’t realized their worth.
If this resonates with you, as it once did with me,
Let me help shift your perspective,
And remind you of the truth God sees.
Fearfully and wonderfully—that’s how you were made.
He formed you in your mother’s womb,
Carefully crafting you with purpose,
Calling you His marvelous work.
Even when the world may try to convince you otherwise.
So, choose today to change how you see you.
Remember that His thoughts toward you are always true.
Meditate on His Word and anchor it in your heart,
So that when you speak, His truth flows abundantly,
Replacing the lies and the harsh self-critique.
Understand the heart of His second greatest command:
Love Him first, then love yourself,
So you can fully love others.
When your heart aligns with His truth,
Your words will echo His promises,
And your life will overflow with blessings born of His love
